Working with exceptionally designed homeware is always an enjoyable challenge, requiring you to look beyond the mere function of a product and appreciate its artisanal value and the significance it holds for its creator.

On this page, I’ve curated some of my favourite writing samples, where I believe I’ve captured both the essence of the brand’s heritage and the technical craftsmanship of each item – and most importantly, created a narrative that will lead to a meaningful purchase.

The Waterford Gingerbread house feels particularly special, retailing at £17,200!

It’s a little-known fact that the Utrecht armchair was never designed for luxury consumption. After being tasked by the Metz & Co. department store in 1935 to create a serial production piece, Gerrit Rietveld quickly realised his creation was too unique and comfortable to part with. Now, it’s an icon of the Neoplastic movement and Rietveld’s experimental vision.

A decorative creation full of romantic meaning.

£700

When Maria Anne Fitzherbert opened a love letter from her admirer Prince George of Wales in 1785, the last thing she expected was to find an eye gazing back at her. The prince had famously fallen in love with her, but their differences in politics were quickly met with the Crown's disapproval. Steadfast in his convictions, he was determined to marry her anyway and – in a final attempt to secure her hand – wrote her a letter containing a rare and whimsical token of love: a miniature painting of his own eye. ‌

The Lover’s Eye trinket tray from Lladró immortalises this unique moment in porcelain, showcasing a glazed reimagining of the original painting, surrounded by faux pearls and gold beading.

This sofa is comfort incarnate.

£11,655

First sat on in 1969, the Soriana sofa is one of Cassina's most intuitive furniture designs. Its curvaceous silhouette supports your back without an internal frame, taking its shape from the grip of its steel base to achieve a playful look that is both formal and wondrously inviting.

The Appaloosa collection brings the adventurous spirit of the Wild West right into your home.

£185

It isn’t just cowboys and horses that have captured the heart of Poodle & Blonde in its latest homeware collection – dalmatian spots play an equally starring role. While they might not be the usual suspects in this quintessentially American narrative, the brand embraces a dash (or a whole heap) of eclectic charm, finishing this square cushion with fluffy pink trims.

Welcome the olfactory strength and essence of the Christmas tree into your home.

£105

This year’s Christmas collection sees Trudon build on the opulence of Versailles, reviving the balls and masquerades once held by Louis XV at the Château through the magical medium of scent. Designed to convey a royal art de vivre, the Fir candle is housed in a vessel decorated with stylised chandeliers, pendants and curtains, while the inside is coated in 24-karat gold leaf. Beautifully woody, its myrrh and incense absolute hints bring depth to its head notes of Siberian pine and fir tree.

Showcasing Waterford's iconic Lismore pattern with a holiday-inspired twist.

£17,200

An everlasting gingerbread house is a thing of beauty indeed – this one from Waterford might not be edible, but its glistening lead crystal is undoubtedly spellbinding. Each glistening homestead is meticulously handcrafted in the brand's native Ireland over a span of 64 hours, making each one not only unique but also a brilliant centrepiece and conversation starter for the Christmas table, year after year.

Since each flower is painted by hand, no two are ever the same.

£90

There’s always inspiration to be found in nature, a fact fully embraced by Les-Ottomans. The Lily of the Valley collection is a whimsical fusion of Mother Nature and clay craftsmanship, celebrating the eponymous flowering plant, which is known for its sweetly scented bell-shaped pendant flowers. Sip from this coffee cup with brewing appreciation, making sure to notice each hand-painted detail.

It can't be used to sew up your clothes, but it can be used to patch up a space on the Christmas tree.

£20

What's not to love about Vondels' latest range of tree decorations, inspired by the baubles of yesteryear? This vintage sewing machine is a beautiful display of the brand's glass-blowing expertise, boasting an Edwardian-inspired pattern to the side and a charming gold-tone bobbin that transforms into a convenient hanging loop. ‌
